1987 Mariner 9.9 charging system

I have a 1987 Mariner 9.9 s/n=0B162812 and I want to get it to charge my battery. I have found the p/n for a rectifier assy and the p/n for the battery cable. My question is, i have also found a regulator lighting kit p/n 95845a5. Do I need the voltage regulator lighting kit also?

Well, I thought I would get a response on here from some of the factory tech's. I guess I stumped everyone. I guess I will have to contact mercury.

Don't know of any factory techs on board here. Does your stator support a charging circuit? There should be 2 yellow wires coming off it if it does.
