Hello,

New to the forum, seems like a great place. My Mariner (1987) 175HP two stroke doesn't pee well when I start it up at idle. When I rev it, it will pee constantly, but when I go back down to idle it spits water rather than streams it. I'm kinda paranoid that something is wrong. I changed the seals in the water pump, replaced the impeller, and replaced the thermostats.

How hot should the water be coming out of the tell-tale? It seems kinda warm but I'm hoping that's kinda normal.

Oh, and I don't think my overheat alarm is working. NOt sure if i even have one for that matter lol. Any idea's on how to figure this out would be great as well! Thanks for your time.

Some motors are just "different". When tha t-stats are closed there is just a small amout of water that gets through tha by-pass slots in them. Some more than others. Feel tha head for temp. Should be fairly warm like tha water. Is there water coming outta tha hub in tha prop along with tha exhaust? Do you have a pressure guage?
To check tha temp sensor and buzzer find tha tan/black tracer wire that comes from a sensor on tha starboard (right) head. Trace it back to a term block where it should have another T/B wire tied to it that comes from tha harness. Where tha two wires are connected at tha term block use a jumper to ground tha termination. Your warning buzzer should go off. If not it may be bad or may not even be there. Tha buzzer should be under tha dash or somewhere real close to it......................D

Additionally, some are plumbed with the pee coming off the stat outlet and so water will be slight till stats open at 143F and when open it will be hot. If you rev a cold engine and get a lot of cold water then you must be getting pop off water which is not via the stat, is a much higher volume, and could be any temp.
