I have a 1987 Johnson 50 HP (model J50TLCUD) and I think is time to spend a little time and money on it. I have owned it since it was new and it continues to run strong. I have never had any material work done on it in the last 19 years. I have decarbed it last year and did not see a lot of difference, which I think is good. I have the OEM service manual for it so I should be able to do most of the work myself. I do think that I should put in a new impeller. Other than that what would be recommended.

Any suggests would be welcomed

Thanks and have a good day.

Hey Fishon1,

Just gotta love those Johnson/Evinrude motors :) Here's a post that deals with motors that have been in storage or not used for along time, but the advice will apply to your situation perfectly.

web page

Thank you for the link. Any and all help is appreciated. I have used the motor each and every year and it continues to run strong and I want to make sure that it stays that way.

The service manual lays it all out - I doubt that we can improve on it.
