COMPRESSTION CHECK #1 110 , #2 115 , #3 100 #4 COULD NOT GET TO . ALL CLY CHECKED STONE COLD . sorry about the caps. spark plug condition #1 crap #2 more crap #3 crap #4 CLEAN spark plug NGK buw-2. history of two years new swtchbox ,new stator, rebuilt carbs.<br />COMPLAINT <br />#1moved from pontoon to a 16' run -about . package weight 1600# max. prop 15" pitch 10 18/ dia three blade 5800 rpm, 22 mph (gps)move to a 12 1/4 dia 4400 rpm 17mph both are out of spec (5000-5500) note 13" pitch with a 4 blade 10 ' dia and a 11 3/4 3 blade 6000+ (tach stops at 6000 but engine still climbs)<br />#2 took out to lake erie with two others 2000# max. the morning 5300 rpm @17 mph water temp 55 degrees air 60. in the afternoon air 85degrees speed 12 rpm 4400 rpm , waves 2' ( nosed in to some swells and engine rpm drooop) the prop was a 15 pitch 10 1/8 dia 3 blade<br />#3using the above prop with the PROP GAURD (an inducted - fan) rpm 4400 speed 14 mph the manufacters and research claims no rpm drop.<br />QUESTION<br />#1 could the thermostat be bad ? ( forgot to mention above new water pump and gasket on cylinders ) <br />#2 is the engine just worn out?<br /># 3 why does the engine not follow the power band curve ? and or deviate so much<br />NOTES<br />#1 the reduction gear is 2:1<br />#2 when i aquired the motor the spark plugs where ngk buw at .o65 gap verses buw-2 .085 <br />#3 last year when the motor work was done. it was on a pontoon boat with a 12 " pitch 10 5/8 dia three blade . mid season 1 bought a 11"pitch 10"dia 4 blade (looking for better gas economy draging 6, 8" 1" wide muskie baits) worked fine .<br />5500 rpm 15 -17 mph. after taking it to the shop it would turn 12 inch @4400rpm wot . after letting them know of the problem they re-tuned the engine to the 12" prop. they said they did not allow the carbs to open fully. do i needed a retune? <br />thank you in advance , it is the weirdnees that i s driving me crazy .
