I could use some help from you guys.I have a 1987 trophy with a 230hp 305 engine qudra jet carb and cobra outdrive.it has a total of 650 legitimate hours on it.
My problem is that it stalls as soon as i shift into gear, unless i let it run for a very long time.If i let it run for ten minutes it seems to be ok.
The engine starts and runs perfectly at all speeds and doesn't skip a beat when i'm under power,or coming in to the harbor at no wake speed.
I do notice however that at very low speed like approaching a dock or slip,it runs kind of rough. When i change the plugs,it runs better, but only for a few trips.this boat only gets used about twice a month for about four days at a time, from april to sept.
Shouldn't plugs last longer than a couple uses?I have tried three different heat ranges of champions and they look fine when i take them out,no fouling or bad deposits.
I also replaced the exhaust manifolds last season.I'm wondering if it could be carburetion.Sorry to be so long winded.thanks for any info on this.
ps. this is a great site with lots of super helpful stuff.
