1987 evinrude 70hp thermostat

I'm trying to find the right part numbers to replace my thermostat. Just bought this motor and it has no thermostat in it at this time. the p.o. removed it and told me he never uses a thermostat in fla. because it's always warm here. I was told running without one is almost as bad as running an engine too hot. Model # is E70TLCUR

its ok to run without a thermostat if the water is 145 deg.

Any engine can run cool without stats, even in Florida. Cool running engines have poorer fuel economy, smoke more and tend to accumulate carbon around the rings quicker than engines with stats.
