Can someone please point me in the right direction on how to test what parts need to be changed on my Evinrude 40 VRO charging system? I have maybe 2 volts charging on my amp hand and the same when I put a ohm meter on the battery. If I let it run for a while and then do the same test I might get maybe another 1 volt. All tests are around 12.4 volts, so I know if I take it out on the water I'll be stuck there. I have a full key start and electric tilt/trim system all factory. Not sure if that helps you to know or not, but thought I'd toss that in there. I don't mind searching but so far I found nothing that shows me how to tell what parts need changed or cleaned. Please help, I want to go fishing.

Charging systems don't put out much voltage, I'm guessing here but I think they only produce 2 to 5 volts max when running at idle or low speed. Is your battery getting old?

you can get a DVA adapter and a multi meter and test your stator per instructions from CDI Electronics site.

I've found alot of people saying around the web, but the problem is I'm not sure how to test the stator, I think I"m looking at mine with 3 yellow wires and 1 red wire. No clue on what to do with it.
