Sorry to ask a dumb question. Just not too familiar with this Older Merc, and I do not have a service manual....yet. Just got this boat. I need to bleed the trim and tilt unit. I have searched the forums, and I am hearing: Use automotive Oil. Some people say use ATF Fluid. Some people say the unit is self bleeding. Some people are saying you need to bleed the system. I am hearing that both the upper and lower cylinders need to be bleed seperately. Now I am totally confused.

Will someone please explain to me what to do, what screws to open, and what fluid I should use to top this puppy off.

Thanks again.

Depending on where the pump is mounted on the motor will have diffrent steps to fill and bleed the TT. Use only TT fluid or ATF when doing so. The 3 ram system with everything mounted between the trasom brackets should be a self bleeding system, and is done when the fill screw is removed. Other systems have diffrent steps to fill and bleed them. Oldman570
