1987 35 horse Forse/ smokes to much

I have a 1987 35 horse US Marine Forse Model # 357F7A<br />and I canot figure out why it smokes so much.<br />I readjusted the carberator per owners manuel.<br />I was very carful to mix the gas properly at 50/1<br />I used brand name Quicksilver premium 2-cycle outboard oil. <br />thank for your help<br />Joe

Are you using 16oz.to 6 gallons of gas?<br /> Does the motor seem to start good and respond properly to commands?<br /> Is the choke opening all the way after you start?Has it ever smoked less? Does it seem to smoke more than other similar motors?<br /> Does the motor have an automatic oiler?

Thank You for the reply<br />The oil mix is correct and it does seem to smoke alot more than other motors. I just got the boat so I do not know if it smoked less. the choke seems to be ok. It does start fine but will die<br />when it warms up unless I give it a little more throttle.<br /><br />Joe

Hickcox<br /><br />I have the same motor only its a 1986 & it seems to smoke more than a normal 2-stroke. I<br />think it may just be how they are.<br /><br />Hoe do you know when your motor is pumping water?

The water pumps out the back of the motor. I can see the water stream out.<br /><br />Joe

Hickox<br /><br />Thanks for the info.<br /><br />Back to your motor. You said it won't idle after it gets warm. Have you ajusted your carb. air flow needle?

Yes ,I believe so is it the needle valve in front of the carberator. I turned it in and then backed it off 1 turn.<br /><br />Joe
