Does anyone know the main, and idle jet sizes for the WH-30 carburetors on this outboard. I had engine failure, and am rebuilding it. I and was told it was running lean on the one cylinder. The carburetors were supposedly rebuilt right before I bought the boat. I am wanting to make sure it has the right size jets in the carbs, and make sure they were installed in the right places. My manual does not have the WH-30 in it. Number stamped on top of the carbs is 157-155. Outboard serial number is A136903.

This is the jet sizes installed now, looking from the front of the carbs, from top carb to bottom carb:

C#1 - Left: .080 - Right: .064
C#2 - Left: .064 - Right: .064
C#3 - Left: .066 - Right: .064

All 6 idle jets are .070

Thanks for any help with this!

I would think that the 080 and the 066 were just some jets someone had laying around instead of getting the right ones. 064 is the right size, I would order 2 and replace the mix match ones.

You have GOT TO get a copy of the FACTORY Service Manual. Some V-6's did have stagger jetting.

But I don't remember if any had that much stagger. More like only one or two sizes.

Boatinfo - The library, containing manuals, brochures and other technical documents from the last hundred years!
Using this link go down the left column to the 'Mercury' heading. This will bring up Merc manuals on the right. Use the slider to move across to the manual you need. There are FIVE manuals listing 175hp motors. You will have to check each until you locate the correct manual for your series of motor.

Any time you have a parts question I like to go back to Merc parts. You will need the model AND serial number of your motor. Go to Merc Parts, scroll down to the section you need and make your selection.

jus a little note... may not believe it but tha WH 30 is one of tha few that Merc (or anyone else) does not show "actual" jettin' ANYWHERE.. it gets close but no cigar...Merc says "might be in very motor specific manual"... good luck findin' that.. but with never-give-up attitude anda little help, another set of original 30's, some ole time micro-fiche, 3rd generation shop owner, merc only tech guy, got "close enough" ta get r done....thank ya very much lady's n gents!

2,3,4,6 64's
1,5 66's
idle's 70's (not a mistake, really)

one size larger staggering was used in tha "chrome bore" motors....
