1987 110hp lower unit bearing mystery

Earlier this year I lost the upper vent plug on my lower unit in the river and filled it full of water. I ended up ruining all the bearings in my lower unit. I ordered all the parts from here on iboats and yesterday I finally got to put it all together. Everything went well until I went to put the needle bearing in the bearing housing. I didn't have one. I thought I forgot to order one. Checked the exploded view,

and found there isn't one. Now I have had it apart for almost a month and I may be wrong but I am sure I took a needle bearing out of #15. I have an old needle bearing the fits right into that housing right up under the seals. The diagram only shows 2 seals, shims, thrust washer and a thrust bearing. I have them plus a needle bearing that I would bet the farm came out of there.
Am I wrong here?

Yes, there is a needle bearing there. The diagram came from Seloc - which could explain things. Check the parts listings at shop2.evinrude.com to get the part number. Or, if there are numbers on the bearing housing, you can get a new one through Kaman Bearing (or a similar bearing & supply store).

I jest looked at the Evinrude site - they don't show it either. My guess is they sell the bearing housing as an assembly, rather than individual parts. Still, you can get the bearing separately by bearing number as I mentioned above...

They don't sell the bearing housing either.
I did go to a bearing supply warehouse and they had on sitting on the shelf. Will install it tomorrow and be on the river this weekend!!
