1986 vro60 chatters

Hi. Newbie here there is a chatter at crusing speed idle is fine last fall the motor was started with the trim too high and the buzzer came on so it got hot but don,t know how much,no discoloration on head and it runs fine except for the chatter when i open her up , could it be some damage in the pistons wrist pin or something all original never been open low hours could it need a rebuild sure sounds like it.<br />Thanks Richard.

You may have cooked something.<br /><br />What do the spark plugs look like? Any of them real clean, especially the top one?

Yes they all look clean,I tried to check to see if there was any play in piston to pin but it is hard to tell could it be timing or carb set up they where just rebuild.<br />Thanks

If they are REAL clean, you are ingesting cooling water. If that is the case, you popped a head gasket. An easy fix.

Well i pulled the head off and gasket does not look bad,and the pistons have normal play from what i can see,so will put it back together(with new gasket of course) and will give it a try.
