I have a 1986 tohatsu 9.9b 2-stroke with the old style carburetor. I'm trying to get a carburetor repair kit for it but can't seem to find one anywhere. So what all is required to upgrade my carburetor if that's what I end up having to do? The info I find online says tohatsu put a newer style carburetor around 1993 and it doesn't fit the older models. Does anyone know of a carburetor or repair kit I can use, or where to get one? I believe the old carburetor part number is 397-03100-0. Thanks for any info you may have.
The issue I'm having is I cleaned my carburetor last year and it ran great. A month ago it ran great but the following weekend it would idle fine but when under a load and you give it some throttle it starts sputtering and has no power. Any ideas other than the carburetor?

If I had to take a guess, I would say it's possible that something is clogging the high speed jet in the carburetor. I would personally start by taking it apart and just cleaning everything carefully. Look through the jets and be sure you can see light and they're not obstructed at all.

Yep. Old style carb is NLA, and no kits. Some individual bits are available if needed, but I agree with Matt. A good cleaning first.
