1986 Tohatsu 70

Hi,<br />New to this forum and relatively new to power boating. The boat I'm looking to buy is powered by a 1986 Tohatsu 70. Not knowing much about the brand, is there something I should be looking for in this particular engine?<br /><br />thanks

Howdy, Looseknot.<br /><br />Welcome to iboats. <br /><br />Tohatsu probably sells more engines worldwide than any other maker. Their reputation for reliability is excellent.<br /><br />On the other side, there are few dealers that offer service and parts are a lot harder to get than JohnnyRudes, Mercs, etc. That makes them pretty much a DIY engine.
