Found a 1986 f/s w/200 johnson. Seller was asking 2,500 for the boat. started asking seller questions about motor etc. So he did a comp check! compression read 85 on 5 cylinders and 70 psi on 1 cylinder. He recieved this boat for a bad labor debt. THE BOAT SAT FOR 3 YEARS... He said he would take it to boat dealer and have it checked out! He happened to give me the dealers name so after a bit i called on the boat. I let the dealer know that i might purchase the boat. They let me talk to the mechanic and he said he found a leaking head gasket and that all cylinders testing at 90 psi, rebuilt all carbs, put in new impeller and new fuel pump. So i called seller up and asked him if it was still for sale he said yes and told me he had to have work done to the motor that he needed more money to cover the repair cost. New price 3,200. Does it seam like thats a fair deal? I looked up the fuel pump and it was over 300.00 . Seams to me like he's bieng fair! What do you think?

I have the same motor on my 87 stratos and it runs so good I think you would do good at that price.

$3,200 seems a little steep for an '86. Be sure to check the hull, transom, deck condition, and of course the engine. He may be a fair and honest guy, but that doesn't mean the boat is a good buy. Trust your instincts.
