This will be my second "build a boat" project as I have a 21' Mariner of the same year. Total gut and rebuild. My current fishing boat. This one looks like his Grandma that ate alot! I've been searching for over 4 years as these seem to be quite rare. I didn't document the last build here but will try to conform to the Starmada rules better this time (no pics....didn't happen!). Hope to have enough time to splash this boat in the fall of 2015. Tight schedule I know, as I'm older and busier than 5 years ago but I am determined. Hope you follow along with suggestions.

Thanks Guys,

Bob

Now that's a big gal, rtek. I know there are a few wanting one just like her.

Do you want this moved to the Starcraft section so they can lust and turn green?

^^^^ Oh, yes. And more pics of the Islander, too. What does she have for power?

Now that's some big tin! Looks like she'll be a great project. Tagging along if that's okay.

Thanks Guys. I'll get more pics up this weekend. The interior is totalled and will be replaced. She's powered by the 5.0 OMC with a Cobra outdrive 230 HP. Hour meter shows 324 hours. Been sitting (and rotting away) for many years. The last tag was from 2001. I think the Mariner could fit inside of the Islander.

Oh man that's a mountain of tin you got your hands on! I really would love to see an Islander restored, especially since this one is the biggest tin craft SC put out the door. :thumb:

Done ;)

Nice big ole tin boat.

It dwarfs the fishing boat next to it in the yard..... Bet it looks even bigger upclose....

Good luck w/ the project. Looking forward to seeing it's progress.

Awesome collection of 80's MONSTER tin!

The paint they used in those years seems to have very good longevity! I've seen a few now that only needed a buff to look showroom-new! :thumb:

Wow the Islander makes the Mariner look like a little utility boat.

What a great pair of SC's you've got there. The 26' is gorgeous. Not many boats that size that are as easy to trailer as that Islander.

There was another guy on the forum that had one of those, but he hasn't been around in a while. I'm glad to see another here. Best of luck with the rebuild process!

I got started by cleaning out most of the junk and took a boatload of pictures to refresh my memory when I start to put her back together. I want to run the engine before I pull it to replace the transom. Then all the interior wood will come out for the refurb. Here is a couple of pictures.

Watermann my thoughts exactly but that just means it is going to look even better when he is done. I am not much of a tin can boat guy but this one certainly catches my attention. Nice looking hull.
