1986 Omc Sterndrive no spark

I have a 1986 OMC sterndrive 3.0l and can not get spark I have replaced distributor cap and rotor, new coil, new plugs and wires still no spark put a volt meter on the coils each wire is only getting 10 volts what could be my problem

That’s what I did now I have spark but can’t get it to fire up it just back fires out of carburetor even with fresh gas in it and I had the carburetor rebuilt

Ayuh,... Backfirin' through the carb is either a lean condition, or the timing is way off,....

Like Bondo said, put in a new set of points and condenser. They are under the distributor cap. If you haven't done points before, they are a little different. 10V on coil is probably fine because there is a resistor or resistor wire

I will have to check I haven’t moved the distributor tho the boat was running last year is what the previous owner said
with points

you must file a new set
gap the new set
verify dwell with a meter on the new set
and set timing on the new set.

as points wear, the dwell and timing change.

as you simply replaced the points, your dwell and timing will have changed

and unless you took the boat for a sea trial and verified the prior owner had it running, he didnt and he lied to make the sale.
