1986 Merc Classic 50 4 cylinder only firing on 1&2

Wondering where to look for root cause on cylinder 3&4 not firing. Carbs are rebuilt and gas to both. Can a Stator or Switch cause only 2 to not fire? Could really use some help. Thanks in advance.

Yes a Switchbox can drop some cylinders.
