Noticed at the tail end of last season that the motor would ocassionally die out for no reson. After I checked fuel tank (brand new) fuel lines new as well vent and fill to rule out possible vapor lock. Also checked fuel filter, and that looked good. Now I am wondering aboout the fuel pump which is part of the vro. Any Ideas?

Thanks

after it dies, is the fuel line still firm, or will it restart & run ok? any other symptoms?

Have ya done a spark test lately?

Fuel line stilll seems firm, primerbulb not limp, and yes it starts right up and will take off.

Fuel pump going bad would leave the primer bulb soft after it dies. Is there some kind of pattern, e.g., dies at idle, or at WOT, in between, random?

does it just shut off like if you turned the key? no sputtering, coughing, sneezing? sore throat, runny nose? ;) sorry.

Could be electrical - inspect the wiring from stator to powerpack(s), look for damaged/burned/missing insulation. Check for corrosion, especially on the ground wires & where powerpack is attached to the engine block. Is that a 1- or a 2- powerpack motor?

No real pattern, full throttle or half just taking off, sometimes the motor dies and sometimes I can keep it running. I am debating whether to discontinue the vro and go straight to a fuel pump 2 generation. Motor does not do this at idle though, it idles a little rough but always has.

it could be a power pack starting to go. are you sure you are running on all cylinders. i agree spark test, and a compression check for starters.
