1986 johnson 50hp

Looking for some answers here. I'm rebuilding a 1986 50hp Johnson, I ran into an issue with the crankcase. My question is can I use any 50hp Johnson crankcase and use the parts I bought for the original one? Is there a difference from the 80's to the 2000's crankcase? If so, what would the issues be?

You cant just replace the crankcase. The block and crankcase are a machined pair so they have to be replaced as a pair. You will have to search the parts fiche to see what interchanges with watever block you find.
