1986 galaxy conquest 3.0 merc alpha o/d leaking water n pulls to the left ??

I am very good with motors i am a proud new boat owner .. The boat runs good ,powers up fine i just have a lil water getting in my bilge from the bottom of the transom and the steering pulls to the left any ideas where to start i think i need a alignment looks like the front mount is loose can i just tighten it down ?? I have recaulked the outside of the transom its jsut a lil leak but enough to have to run the pump now and again and prohibits me from leaving boat in the water for long periods of time ?? i looked at steering cable n its not binding or nething should i tear into it this year or run it and wait for winter to tear it apart n replace gimbal ring and do a alignment ?? It pulls to the left wen getting on plain but doesnt seem to be affect perfprmance of the boat at all ....

trim tab improperly positioned, but the water is the big issue. you need to locate the source. shift cable boot, main bellows, rotted exaust, rotted transom are the biggies.

if you are having to caulk the transom plate, I would be looking real close for rotten transom before you proceed forward with anything else. How new to you is the boat? Could you return it if the transom is rotted?

it seems as if it was coming in from the bottom of the plate i cant see under there to well. i tried rinning a hose in between the housing n no water came in i think it was coming in on the bottom ?? I cant return the boat it was bought as is it seems solid the bellows all seem to be real strong but hard to tell with out taking it apart ya know ?? the motor mount in front was also loose i noticed i have tightned it down today , and checked all the other ones as well as tightned all the transom bolts dwn real snug they were a little loose ... there is no play wen i shake it or pull it up n dwn it all seems real tight ...
