Hi guys/gals. I have a slight problem. I bought this engine used (boat and trailer also). He told me forward was gone but it went into reverse. I tore the gear housing apart and found the pinion gear well wiped. ordered a pinion gear (forward/reverse had some chips here and there but i deemed them ok for now), water pump, and seal kit.
Im referencing my seloc manual and it says that the clutch dog grooves need to match up the detent balls/spring. I have a 3 lug clutch dog. The no spline grooves will not match up both holes in the pinion shaft at the same time.
Is this a problem? I noticed the V groove in the middle of all the splines, is one ball suppose to rest in that groove to keep it in neutral?
I happen to bump the clutch dog and one ball went A-wall. I will get another tomorrow.
