1986 blackmax 150 overtemp

150 overtemping within a very short period after starting it does this motor have a thermastat in the water jacket somewhere? I do have water exiting the p-hole at all time. engine runs arond 200 then wot goes to 240 alarm sounds and drop back to idle speed temp drops back to 200.

Follow your telltale hose. It probably t's off and then a hose should go directly to your 2 thermostats.Change them every season.

It has two thermostats, each one is at the top of the cylinder heads just above the top spark plugs.. The water flows through the stats and into the cylinder head water jackets...<br /><br />Replace them as an assurance... But when was the last time the water pump was replaced (at least the impeller), has your poppet/pressure relief valve been inspected? Do you have a water pressure guage, if so what are the readings? <br /><br />Let us know...
