1986 Bayliner Capri with AQ125B won’t go past idle in reverse

My boat works with the full range of throttle motion in forward and moves full forward and back in neutral, but won’t go past idle in reverse (it doesn’t even get completely to idle, but the prop moves). The throttle gets some resistance and won’t move. I haven’t tried to force it too much, as I don’t want to break anything, but it won’t budge. Any ideas what the problem might be? It goes into gear and the prop moves in both forward and reverse.

sounds like your throttle control may not be working properly. I would check take sure the cables are not binding at the engine and outdrive.
