Just purchased this 1986 325 BMW first one i ever owned runs great but when i first start it up the check engine light blinks but if i tap on the brakes it goes off what could this be.
Different vehicles use different codes, DK. You need to get an owner's manual and check the "idiot light" codes.<br /><br />It could be something as simple as "test brakes" or it could mean there is a problem with your mass-air sensor (That's what my MLs mean when they flash the "Check Engine" light).<br /><br />If you can't come up with a manual, try a BMW dealer Service Dept.<br /><br />Good luck.
Thanks JB found out last night what it was its telling me to look above the mirrer at the codes and there was a light on saying low beam light out but the light was working reset the panel and it quit blinking.
