I have a strange thing with my oil injection pump setting. Bought the boat/motor and the oil injection linkage is not set to factory setting. The link arm is under the swing arm of the pump and the notches are no where near what merc specs indicate. Motor has been that way for more than 10 yrs and getting oil and running ok.
I have OEM manuals and set the oil pump swing arm to factory indicators. Motor ran poorly like it was choking on too much oil at idle.
Changed it back to how it was (disconnect linkage from carb, allow spring to drop the arm on the oil pump, shortened the link arm back to what it was and then just pushed it back onto carb link). Still trying to get it to idle better in neutral.
I am wondering how to test amount of oil from pump when set to factory arrangement and markings and how to adjust oil injection amount if it is getting too much oil so it is the correct mixture.
Advice would be appreciated
