1985 Volvo Penta aq125b will not start

1985 Bayliner Capri 2.1, AQ125B volvo penta . I am looking for suggestions. Had boat on lake Saturday could not get over 2800 RPM at full throttle, put in neutral went to 4100 RPM. Sunday started just fine backed off trailer and died now will not start. Reading forums I started with a new fuel pump. Fuel pumps good to CARB, Engine turns over but wants to kick back, will turn again good but kick back. Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated. thanks,

Sounds like you wasted money on a fuel pump.
Sounds a lot like the timing belt jumped a tooth or two. Revving the engine in neutral is a non test, and you should have gotten a lot more than 4100 rpm.
I would be doing a compression test, checking the timing (not running) but check the timing by turning the crank to #1TDC on the compression stroke and see if your cam mark is lined up, and also see if your distributor rotor is aimed close to the mark on the distributor.

Trying to locate the #1 cylinder I cannot find a diagram or picture in the manual?
