Have a 1985 Merc, 50 HP that I am having trouble with the tilt/trim. When I raise or lower it the ground wires from the head unit to the lower unit starts smoking and gets red hot, there are three ground straps from the upper to lower unit and all three get hot, but just when I raise and lower the engine. Any idea what is causing this??
