Note: Yes I went through the stickies
so be nice.
New guy here and new to boats also. I just purchased my first boat…. a “lake ready” 1989 Sunbird SPL150 with a non-original 1985 Mariner 60E outboard.
First time on the water, running it through its paces a few times, start stop / speed up slow down, kill it start it etc. I have maybe an hour on the water in it at varying rpm and speeds, topped out at a GPS indicated 30mph.
I was idling through a no-wake zone when the motor began to sputter a little. I gave it a little gas, it caught, sputtered a little, I backed off and back into it, it caught and then died.
Now, ZERO ignition, no click no nothing.
All 12V accessories work
I have jumped across the starter with a screwdriver and it spun perfect.
I get 10.5V through the brown shift interrupt switch when turning the ignition to “start”
I get continuity from starter solenoid positive and negative to brown wire from shift interrupt.
I have tested continuity through the shift interrupt switch and its working. I do not have continuity through the shift interrupt switch when in forward or reverse.
Thoughts?
I'll be out, any suggestions can be posted here but, I'd love to get them via text.
