1985 Johnson 9.9 Sailmaster J10 SELCOM - "water tube" removal problem - heat?

I have dropped the extension from the exhaust housing about 1 inch - with great difficulty. Enough to loosen the shift rod clamp and drop the lower unit with drive shaft.

The water tube appears to be mated by corrosion (salt water) where it feeds through the extension ( about 2 inches from the bottom of the extension). I have soaked the tube-guide/corrosion area with PB blaster and dripped brake fluid down the tube from the 1 inch separation at the exhaust housing. The power head is free of the exhaust housing but cannot get more than an inch out of the seat. Is there an area for the water tube to bind in the exhaust housing?

Any suggestions? OK to heat with a torch? I could always cut the tube with a hacksaw and try to find a used tube . . . Thanks

Racerone - I must replace the "swivel bracket". I expect to encounter more frozen bolts and screws as I progress with the tare down.

Crosbyman - The Johnson "shop manual" and leroysramblings do not teach removing the lower clamp. Anyway, I have dropped the lower unit/gearcase along with driveshaft. The ONLY connection seems to be "water tube".

Thank you

Did you try water in area where it is seized? The tube is only in a grommet at top and you should be able to just pull out the power head with exhaust tube attached and the water tube should come out of the top grommet if the bottom is stuck if I am not mistaken.I pulled mine apart this way with the exhaust housing still attached to the swivel bracket, but my water tube came with it.In fresh water only luckily.Been about five years since I did it.

You also may want to replace the rubber exhaust seals in the housing where the swivel bracket goes into the housing while it is apart.Wish I had.Make sure you put loctite on the three bolts holding the swivel tube to the steering bracket.Mine were loose causing lots of play..
