Hi

I know this topic has been discussed throughly and I have spent a few days reading through the threads and watching various videos. Right now I have the oil pump disconnected and stored away and have put short line onto the oil intake and plugged it with a bolt and ring clamped it. I still have a few questions that I can't find the answer to after all my research:

1) Of the tutorials I have read it says to disconnect the VRO wiring harness but I cannot find these harnesses. I have disconnected the oil pump but I don't see any wires running to or from the fuel pump - just the solenoid fuel primer but I need that. Does my VRO pump even have a wiring harness?

2) I went to my local shop and they said I needed to order a special high pressure fuel pump to convert - this doesn't make sense to me as I have read many threads with people who have just put a standard mixed pump into their 50hp VROs and everything fits fine except they were missing a few bolts. Does anyone have the part number for the fuel pump that would work with my motor?

Any help would be nice.

your fuel pump runs on pluse from motor . i would just run your vro pump for fuel only .

That's my plan for now but I am not sure how long the fuel pump will last. I have time now to do the swap or at least order the part and make an attempt. I've read that the VRO pump is not very reliable and that I should be prepared to replace it sooner then later.

Ok,

So I found another thread and these are the instructions - go to:

http://shop2.evinrude.com/Index.aspx?s1=bqtfu3kf8retkdj0jscbqvctb6&catalog_id=5&siteid=1

Find your year and motor model number. Click on Fuel Pump and Filter. Look at the part number for "Fuel Pump Assy." The fuel pump will mount on the port side of the motor behind the starter just above wear your fuel filter is usually located.

Cheers,

Aaron
