1985 evinrude control wire questions

I have an old 1985 evinrude 175 and am swapping for Yamaha 150. I have new control unit mounted for Yamaha and know the yelllow is 12 V switched. I have seen wiring guides for OMC but am uncertain if this matches what I have.

A connection on end of old OMC controller with 3 leads goes under the dash and has 3 wires. Black is probably ground. Purple is ? 12 volt switched? The other one is gray.

Another cable came from engine and had tach wires. I don't need the tach info as I have yamaha tach wired.

The wires from the controller to the dash are the ones for which I need some information to figure out the snarl under the dash. Thanks. MK

The 3 wires in the pigtail from the OMC control box are to feed a dash tach. The black is ground, red/purple is hot and the gray wire is the tach signal wire.
