1985 Evinrude 40HP VRO

Hello, new to the forum...

I want to install a standard fuel pump (OEM part #438556 or Sierra part#18-7352) in place of my VRO.

From everything I've gathered in these forums I should be able to do a direct replacement.

Is there anybody out there that can give me detailed yet simple instructions on what all needs to be done? Or direct me to a previous thread that explains it?

Thank you very much for any help I can get! I'm fairly inexperienced when it comes to outboards.

This may help you. From my change over to premixing last summer.

That sort of helps. I suppose I'll have to get the new pump in hand and fiddle around with it. I'm hoping someone who's done this to a 40hp can give step by step instructions.

The marine shop near by me would only charge me $90 to do it, but if I can do it myself for free, it would be much preffered. Thanks!

Pretty much the same thing only on a different motor. Same principles.
