1985 evenrude 40hp connected battery backwards now engine wont start-up..cracks ect

ya i did a duhhh..but anyway where do i start to try to fix this issue i cant afford to bring it in so im on my own.. it still turns over and sounds right but wont run..are there any fuses ect to check for i didnt see any in-line fuses..when the battery was hooked-up backwards the starter was turning backwards so i took of the cover and figured it out and fixed the battery connection but hasnt run since..ran perfect pre this just added a new battery since the old could hold a charge ..please any help apriecaited..ty mark

Yes, there is a fuse that you certainly "popped".

Look for a fuse holder on the engine. It looks like a regular wire connector. Have the battery disconnected while you are doing that.

You probably also popped your rectifier. The rectifier controls the battery charging circuit. Not terribly expensive. iboats will have one.

where can i find these parts i really lookeed for a fuse thinking there might be one but couldnt find one also dont know what or where the other part u mention would be i can take picks of the engine tommorrow if it helps too dark at present..not sure about spark didnt check for that was too frustratated and mad at my-self :( at the time, my kids were so glad i finnaly fond time to get the boat in the water and i got a new battery and then this lol

As Daviet said, check your spark. Should jump a 7/16" open air gap. If it still turns over i don't think you blew a fuse.
