I weighed the boat and trailer and it was2000 lbs is this to heavy? waterlogged? the boat was stored outside uncovered for a few years .is there foam or somthing that can trap water in boat? i dont know much about boat insides so any info would be great.....

sure sounds like you are carrying extra weight. about 400lbs. yes there is foam that will saturate, and hold water. you also probably have rotten stringers and transom.

If it was left in the rain for years then 99% sure you have wet foam and some rot going on....:(

May I ask the size/model of the trailer before making comment? 2000lbs may not be too heavy if it's a monster trailer, like a tandem.

Not sure what that Capri has for HP rating, but I'd expect the 65 to be able to move it. Yank that floor!

if the trailor is the one for the boat, then 2000lbs seems a bit heavy. the motor is definitly not the original but doubt it's any heavier than the 85hp. i have a 16' capri, 85hp & the original escort trailor = 1725lbs dry weight. figure i'm around a ton w/ all my fishing & sleeping equipment & gas.

I was kinda thinking that it was to heavy , when you look at the transom and the whole bottom of the boat it is perfect no cracks when you tap on it no changes is tone and beside the rot around the ski hole the floor feels very firm. can this be dried out? or will the water stay forever in the foam?

It can dry out eventually, but that's not the real problem, which is once the wood gets waterlogged and begins to rot it's like a cancer that will eventually eat up the wood like termites.
You need do some exploratory surgery to see how bad the damage is, and go from there.

wet foam what to do

wet foam what to do

sorry to jump in , but I have a wet foam sitatution. The stringers seem to be well glassed. I just cut a one foot square hole , under the water well off to the side . The foam could squeeze the water out of it . THE FLOOR SEEMS SOLID just damp . can i just dig out the foam , and does it need to be replaced or just left empty . I am doing the upholstrey over and found this. what should i do
