I have a 1985 Bayliner Trophy 1710 with a Force 85. I been having problems with my power trim and tilt. I can lower the motor with easy, but the motor needs help to lift it up, and it doesnt like to stay up after its been lifted. Instead it likes to easy itself back down. At first I thought it was the pump because the lack of pressure to move the motor up and keep where I stopped without locking it in place. Therefore, I took the lines that ran into the pump off to see if I was getting flow when engage it, and that was fine. I think my whole unit is shot except the pump. Big question is how much is it going to set me back to fix it, or buy a new power trim and tilt unit?

it is probably just the valve body. Try plugging up the lines and see if it still drifts down. If it doesn't drift with lines plugged then your rams are okay. New valve bodies are just over $200 and rebuild services are just over $100. Check iboats, ebay, and amazon.
