1985 2750 ciera sunbridge with 270 volvo penta

getting 3900 rmp at full throttle manual calls for 4000-4400 im running a 15 x 17 any suggestions on getting the rmps up and possibly increasing the speed.

all so oil is gathering on top of the engine underneath the carb i cleaned and noticed that it was bubling around the gasket near where the oil is put in. is it difficult to replace gasket to stop the leak.

Here is what you posted in your previous thread.

rode about 13 miles engine was running fine. all of a sudden it slowed down and i had to make it in barely above throttle. when i gave it gas it would pick up a little but start smoking from the caps where you put oil into the engine. there was oil on the dip stick, oil didn't apper low. any suggestions on what to check and where to look.

I really don't know what your problem is. Do you have a smoke problem where you suddenly started having smoke come out of the valve covers? A prop will cause you to slow down if it spins a hub, but you would never get much above idle, but that wouldn't cause smoking valve covers. Now you have 3900 and looking for 4000 to 4400? ? ? ? ? ?

I'm really getting lost in trying to figure out if you have multiple problems or exactly what's going on.
Please explain.

im new at this so please bare with me. when giving gas above throttle the speed would pick up then die down. at this point if i didnt down throttle smoke would come from both caps that you open to pore your oil in. this is a v-8 and it has two sides on top of the engine to add oil.
the motor begin to sound like a car engine if you drove it with out oil

For what it is worth - Years back I had the Victoria 2750 with the 350 & Volvo 270 outdrive. It was a slug. It would barely get on plane with just me on board & you had to run it WOT to stay on plane. I sold it 6 weeks before hurricane Andrew.
