Hello All,

I have a quick question that through a morning of searching i have not found, or atleast didn't realise i found, the answer to.

I am replacing the waterpump on my outboard and one part of the manual (SELOC, yes i know...) tells me to 'coat the inside diameter of the liner with light-weight oil'. My questions is...what is considered the correct 'light-weight oil' to get the impeller in? Just don't want to break the new waterpump kit first time out and this is my first waterpump rebuild. I'm using Sierra #18-3392 which i was told was the correct one for this motor.

Thanks in advance!

You're basically lubricating the impeller to ease with installation it'll wash right out once you get going. I use soapy water myself. WD-40, 30-weight, 2-stroke oil, MMO, or any kind of cutting oil will work too. Don't worry too much about it.

i lightly spray the inside of the housing, and impeller with wd 40. then turn the drive shaft clockwise, as i put pressure on the housing.

Thanks, all

I figured it was something simple but i was always told if you are not sure you should ask instead of screwing things up.

That impeller is a bugger getting in the housing...now i understand the lube :D
