I have once again come to ask for you guys help. I finally got it running and then lost all spark while fine tuning the carbs.

My question is what should I check to trouble shoot the CDI and the control box? Is either more likely to fail than the other?

The old CDIs are impossible to find and the new units are 700+ and the control units are 300+ so I just want to get this right the first time. Lol

Thank you all ahead of time for any help you can give me.

The CDI assembly is the least likely component to be the problem.

A white wire is used to apply a ground to the motor to stop it from running. I would check the white wire to make sure that it is not grounded. Do you have the Yamaha service manual?

I do not have one but coming from a back ground in old OMC loopers Im thinking I should definitely pick one up for my sanity's sake. Thank you for the suggestion about the white wire. Ill see if I can clean it up and see what I can find out. The motor sat for years so I wouldn't be surprised if that's the issue.

With the white wire unhooked I am still getting no spark. What leads should I check for output to be sure my cdi is the fail point? I found one for 480 but I just dont want to throw money around while I wait on the manual.
