I just picked up a 1984 Startcraft CSS160 (friend of the family deceased Uncle). It has a 90hp Chrysler Motor on it, and the mount for a kicker motor. There is no book with it, just the original sales papers. Anyway, it's in great shape, but I don't know much about it. For starters, I would really like to know where would the battery be located. I've looked all over, but there is nothing apparent,.

come check out the StarCraft forum. I'm sure you should be able to locate your desired info over there.

i think the CSS160 is a fiberglass oat, most of the stuff in the Starcraft forum is aluminum boat related.

Never seen a post @battery location @ a CSS160, but it should probably be under the splashwell if OB, or behind a jump seat @ the motor doghouse @ an I/O.

Thank you. It's an outboard, and it is fiberglass. It has a steering wheel, radio, cb, fish finder, trim, etc., so I figure the battery has to be a battery somewhere. Do you think there's a possibility it could be behind one of the rear seatbacks (however, they seem to be attached pretty solid)?

There are wires coming from the engine. Follow them - they lead to the battery.

Maybe it has no battery because someone took it out. In that case there may be an empty black battery box, or a red and black wire is hanging somewhere.
