I have a 1984 mercury outboard 75 hp. I purchased the boat a year ago, the owner said that it ran good but it seemed to have lost power. I took it to a mechanic which did a compression check ( all checked good) and tested spark on the 4 cylinders. It was found the motor was only running on 2 cylinders and suggested the switchbox was bad. I purchased and replaced the swithbox but still have the same issue. I did find some wiring that has been replaced and some wires that were just cut and left. I don't know if I should replace the entire harness or get a wiring diagram and just repair or replace the existing one. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Billywilliamrussell@clayton.edu

There is an ignition troubleshooting test for that motor on the CDI Electronics website. it will tell you what is wrong and probably give neought info to figure out your wiring issues. If you need more help a Merc Service manual would be a good idea.
