Hello all,
working on replacing seals on lower crankshaft. While I have engine off any other things You recommend I do since it’s off?

MORE importantly, forgot to pay attention to the direction the two seals should be. Septic Manual doesn’t seem to cover that point in detail at least I haven’t seen it.

Also, diagrams show a shim but there was none on the cap. This is something that should be added?

thanks all

??----Shims are used to get the correct fit of parts.----In this case the end float of the crankshaft.-----If there were none , then maybe they were not needed on this engine block.

Ok great, racerone your always helpful, do you happen to know the direction the two bottom seals should be facing? Lip towards the engine block?

I say lip AWAY from engine block.---If you still have the old seals you might see which way you removed them.

It's recommended that you use Loctite on the shell for sealing and adhesion.
