Just picked up a 1984 imperial v175r with a mercruiser 3.0 120. The wiring to the starter was extremely corroded to the point where the red power wire and orange were not even connected. I need help figuring out which wires go back onto the 4 starter terminals. I also have a new fuse for the orange alternator wire that will replace the old one.

This should be reposted in the MerCruiser forum. You might look for a wiring diagram for your motor. They should be available on the net. Although the starter wiring probably didn't change much or at all over the years, it would be best to get a diagram for the 3.0 as close to your year as you can.

A lot of those MerCruisers had both starter and slave solenoids. Make sure the wiring diagram you find has those.

Welcome
The pic has an error. Put orange wire on the white plastic fuse.

so the water is the motor starter / solenoid ..... rusted off it !!!!!
inspected it / brushes / solenoid ... so the ''new'' starter/solenoids ..
