1984 Merc 4.5 No tell Tale

1984 Merc 4.5 No tell Tale. I have it in a barrel up to the top of the cav plate (there are no inlets above it).
No water comes from the tell tale. I fed a wire right through to the head. I see steam coming from inside the hose.
Where is the water pump? Does anyone have a link to a parts diagram?

I just found a parts diagram and it looks like the impeller is in the leg above the lower unit. How does the L/U come off? I only see two nuts, one near the trim tab and one near the front edge in an opening (I see shift linkage as well).

Just two fasteners?
