I purchased a 1984 Hydra sport bass boat a few months ago. When i got the boat it had some damage from rats. I am in the process of getting the boat readdy for spring and was waundering if anyone could maybe either explain to me the plumbing on the live well as there is three and a lot of port wholes in the back of the boat, I know it isnt plumbed right, as no water comes in any of the live wells the way it is. I dont see a bildge pump in it and i think it is supposed to have one for at least the center well. I am really needing help, any would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not familiar with a Hydra-Sport but can give you the basics of what to look for. Most live wells are pretty basic. First you need a livewell pump.....your bilge pump has a different purpose. The livewell pump is typically mounted through the transom below the water level so it can pump water into the wells. The hose(s) lead from the pump to the live well(s) and typically there is a valve on the inlet of the well so you can shut the valve off/on so the water will remain in the well while the boat is under way. Then there is an overflow outlet near the top of the well that drains by gravity. Hope this helps. The bilge pump specific purpose is to drain any water that gets into the hull be it rain, leaking or whatever.

I pretty much concur with Evinbuck. My boat's from about the same time frame as yours so I'd bet they're plumbed pretty similar. (Live wells are plumbed much differently today). I've got one livewell pump on the transom which feeds water to a spray bar in each livewell. Each spray bar has a valve to adjust flow or turn it off completely. Each livewell has a gravity drain (one exits through the transom and the other through the hull in the front). In addition to that each one has an overflow, each overflow on mine exits throught the side of the hull. When in use the drains obviously must be plugged and the overflows stay open. It sound like maybe all your fittings were installed in the transom.
