Is the 1984 125hp Steering tube the same as later models (1985-1990)? Another question almost all third parties parts say for 1985 Force 125hp and later but nobody mentions the 1984 force 125hp. Is this an oversight or is it really different? I know from past experience most of the parts are the same but just questioning.

Re: 1984 Force 125hp Steering Tube

84 was the year that Chrysler sold its outboard division. SO: there may be 1984 Chrysler 125 engines and later on they may have been rebadged Force. At any rate, they are exactly the same engine. And the steering tube is the same part up until around 1990 for all four cylinder engines and all three cylinder engines except possibly Force 70 and 75.

Thanks for the info Frank, I’m looking to add a BayStar hydraulic steering system.

I did that back in 1989 and it was a great thing!!!
Now you have to make sure the motor still moves freely.
That hydrolic steering is strong enough to break something.
I had a problem a while back and had to use a torch and drill holes and add grease fittings.
On your motor,if the grease won't go in the zerts????STOP!!!!
They only put 1 grease fitting and it's in a good spot but most people don't lube their motors enough(me included)
Get out the heat gun or propane torch and start melting the old solidified grease.
At the top and bottom of the kingpin is a bushing don't get it so hot it melts or it will never turn again.
