1984 90 HP Mercury tilt / trim release

Is there a way to manually lift a 90 hp Mercury ob when the trim / tilt won't lift? The trim motor runs but won't lift the motor up...so I cannot even get it up to tow it to a shop.

Hi<br />can't say for sure on yours, but my old merc has a knob on the bottom of the tilt motor pump assmy. that will release it from the hydraulics.

ditto to Schematic-<br /><br />I have a 84 90hp merc which has a knob on the bottom of the motor...turning it one way or another will release it...if all else fails, swap relays and use the "down circuit" to raise the motor and get it to the shop.<br /><br />Bobby

Littlet<br />maybe you'll get lucky and find that knob 'not tightened'. That would account for the unit not lifting. Or maybe its just low on fluid......<br /><br />good luck

To raise motor I think you open the knob. But to lower back down, you have to loosen bleed screw on top of t/t cyls on motor and bleed the oil out.
