The title pretty much tells the whole story/problem. My trim will go all the way and only about 85% of the way down.
When I bought this boat/motor to fix last Sunday the trim wouldn't go up. I lifted it up as the prior owner added fluid. Then it worked so it had been sitting w/ low fluid for a couple weeks. (prior owner hit a rock 2 weeks ago ripping off the lower unit).
When the motor stops at 85% down, the pump is still running but sound different/sick once the motor stops going down.
If I loosen the drain valve, the motor will fall the rest of the way down. Then, if I raise it back up, it will only go down 85% of the way.
I just fully removed the drain/manual lower plug and let all of the fluid drain out. There appeared to be some water in the fluid but I could be imagining that.
Any theory's on why the trim would work perfectly except for that last 10-15% of the way down? Thanks!
