How reliable was the 1984 60hp Johnson? Not being familiar with outboards, I have been looking at buying this motor. It does not have power "trim and tilt" the guy told me. Would it be possible to install this trim & tilt feature? If so, where would they be available and was wondering about the cost.Any other comments about this motor would be of great help. Good or bad comments. Thank jps

Re: 1984 60HP Johnson

I owned a 82' 60 2 cylinder model and was fairly pleased at the performance on a boat rated for a 70 hp engine.I later upgraded to the three cylinder looper and liked it a lot better.Smoother idling and larger gearcase. What is the max rated hp of the boat you plan to use it on? BTW,you can get a T/T unit for the engine but I recommend finding an engine already equipped.

Re: 1984 60HP Johnson

The 60HP Johnson motor is on a 16' Lund Pike D. It's sort of a package set up. I would have to agree about finding trim & tilt already on a motor would be best. This boat is for my daughter so lifting a 60 hp would be pretty tough, even for me! Thanks for the reply. By the way, if you know of any good moderate priced fishing boat give me an e-mail. Daughter lives in Minneapolis, I'm in nw Ia. Thanks, jps scheernj@mtcnet.net
