Re: 1983 Tiara Pursuit 2500
welcome to iboats.
Blake's advice is good. When buying boats that old, and hopefullycheap. you are primarily buying (a) the motors and (b) the previous owners' care and maintenance for that particular boat. By now, differences in quality and durability based on brand are eclipsed by condition. The main thing for a boat like that is that the bilge didn't hold water--such as from a plug left in while it sat unused on a trailer, and in your case, the cabin floor area as well. (Assuming the deck drains out scuppers) it's a boat made for the outdoors that does not need to be covered all the time.
I note the IL stickers so if it's been kept there, you want to look for freeze damage. But you will find spider cracks everywhere, no problem. It's the transom and structure that matters.
The big deal is in the motors. are they 1983 outboards? have you priced replacements of that horsepower? Because if you can't afford to repower, no matter how they run today, it's not the boat for you.
You might add to your post the HP so others can evaluate for you if it's powered correctly for its size and hull.
Talk to locals abuot whether that size/design works well in your waters for your intended use.
